At this year’s Farnborough International Airshow, the Space Zone located in Hall 3 was again one of the stars of the show.
Having increased in size by 50% over 2010, we welcomed participation from The UK Space Agency (UKSA), the European space Agency (ESA), Roscosmos, The Russian Federal Space Agency, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and Astrium along with a greatly increased number of SME’s representing the space Industry all of whom presented themselves in a very eye catching and interesting way.
The Space Zone also hosted a number of conferences, the highlight of which was the Space Day conference on the Tuesday of the show with speakers of the highest order representing, Government, the Space Agencies and Industry.
The Zone also hosted the award ceremony of the Rocketry Challenge on Futures Day and the contestants were delighted to be given their awards by two astronauts from the European Space Agency (ESA)
Our two ESA astronauts also made a number of presentations during the week, which had the audiences spellbound. Additionally the audiences also experienced live demonstrations thanks to the presence of a replica of the Mars Rover – Bruno, which made the Zone a great educational forum for the trade and the public alike.
2014 promises to see the Space Zone further increasing in size due to it’s outstanding success in 2012 and to the ever increasing importance Space has in our lives internationally
