The final trade day of the world renowned Farnborough International Airshow, Friday 13 July 2012, will be a celebration of aviation, with the advent of Jubilee Day, to supplement the trade activity and mark the start of the largest ever season of summer events in the United Kingdom.
Jubilee Day will umbrella a number of initiatives including an educational youth programme known as ‘Futures Day’; invitations extended to Exhibitor’s guests and their families and the opportunity for a limited number of interested public attendees to experience some of the exhibits which are only showcased on trade days.
‘Futures Day’ hosted at the Farnborough International Airshow, is an initiative managed by A|D|S, the UK trade association advancing the AeroSpace, Defence and Security industries. The focus is motivating and encouraging young people to follow a career path in aerospace and is aimed at students aged from 11 to 21 years. Schools and colleges will be invited to participate in a scheduled day of activities, which include a careers exhibition; seminars and discussion workshops; meetings with pilots, engineers and young professionals and of course the opportunity to view the aircraft and Flying Display.
“Jubilee Day will offer our Exhibitors and visitors an opportunity to share in the successes and achievements of the global aerospace industry. It is also a spring board from which engaged young people can learn more about the plethora of career opportunities available to them within our industry.” said Shaun Ormrod, Chief Executive of Farnborough International Limited. Ormrod continued: “We hope to attract thousands of young people to Futures Day through an exciting programme tailored from an educational base. And who knows, we may also receive some celebrity guests to mark the occasion.”
Ends – 20 June 2011
